Technical Training
To improve the safety and integrity of the vehicle many manufacturers are using new techniques. Structural steel found in the rocker panels, “A” and “B” pillars and contains a product call “Boron”. Boron is molted into the steel as it is formed. Once solidified the tensile strength of the piece is 4 times greater providing occupant safety.
Knowledge of the product is extremely important to the repairing technician. If the wrong drill, welder or plasma cutter is used the “Boron” would return to a liquid (unnoticed by the naked eye) and dry. No longer providing the added security and safety it is designed for.
